Which soft top cleaner/proofed not Autoglym

I have some AG stuff courtesy of inkey$ that I'll use first, but I may well try painting that on with a brush.

Just remember that the roof is Protech protected as well ...

I didn't realise that. Doesn't seem to bead like it is though ? I'll check today, as it's raining & I'm off into London shortly...

Just to add the AG stuff is easy to remove from the bodywork if thats the worry?

I just wipe the excess runs with a microfibre... Even if they start to dry.

The windows a bit of window cleaner removes dries proofer too.

It is not meant to bead, it is breathable material.

Renovo was the product I bought (and still have unopened) as that was the appropriate one for the roof from my research.

I have the GTeq stuff sitting upstairs, although I have only have the auto glym cleaner, going to try combining these two and judging the results.

I did not need to use it as I had roof protection applied when I bought the car new, I probably would have used it this year but sold the car just before

Here's a question. Imagine 2 pints of rain fall on the roof over 2 hours. An untreated roof will let the rain soak in and evaporate over time.
A treated roof will make the 2 pints of water run off.
Where ?
Down the drain holes !!

If this happens a few times over the year, that's a lot of rain going past the motor that may not before.

Is that a concern to consider ?

It rained here all day yesterday. There wasn't a lot of evaporating going on.

Bit of a dilemma - proof the roof, water beads off - but then It will rot my roof motor over time. Or leave the roof and hope it copes over time. My Z is a 2006 model and as far as i know the roof was not treated by the previous owner who effectively detailed the car every now and again and the roof is still water proof and in good shape.

That is why I bought Renovo as that is leaving the roof breathable ...

The AG stuff does not waterproof the roof - it is water resistant. If it gets wet enough it will get soaked through, it only beads when rain is light, or from a hose when washing for example. So the roof can still breathe.

I've always used Autoglym, but the detailers that recently refurbished my car used GTechniq and the water shedding/beading is awesome.

Not wishing to tempt fate too much, my roof motor is still going strong after 10 years/155k miles.....

I've ordered the cleaner and the stuff to treat the roof (500 mls of each) from Gtechniq, I'll give them a go when they arrive.
