Which Porsche?

Still wouldn't touch it. In fact I'd be put off buying all but a very old or very new porsche given all this IMS stuff I keep hearing about. I wouldn't like to stretch to running a Porsche only to have the engine destroy itself, or even if it didn't, live with the constant worry it might.

A friend of mine bought a 996 Carrera 3.6 with 62k miles a few months ago for £16k. I think it is a 2004. So far he's had a few minor niggles (door seals needed replacing) and needed a new set of spark plugs but other than that it's been fine so far. The supplying independent dealer has covered all of the work so far too.

They are a nice car and the 3.6 996 is damn quick (quicker than the 997.1 Carrera).

EDIT: How many so far's in one paragraph!! :?

The 3.4' sa re better fore liabeiliuty than the 3.6's.

That one to me is not cheap though - mileagey, dodgy looking wheelz (imo) and bodykit which I always think looks out of place when not on the GT3.

The 996 C2 and the 997 C2 are identical to 60 (but the 996 has about 2mph gain at the top end) which isn't too surprising given the engine is just updated with 5bhp more and the 997 weighs a little more. A lot of people seemed to opt for the S in 997 guise giving 355bhp and therefore making it seem better than its predecessor
