Which is the best monitor to use for graphic design?

Hello friends,
I am a digital photographer and photo optimizer, so I use my computer to extensively retouch photos. Because of this I need a monitor that will display a wide range of colors and tones clearly crisply and accurately. My current monitor died and I'm using a crappy temporary one. I need to buy a new monitor and I am wondering what is the best monitor to use for these purposes. Can anyone suggest me?
Thanks in advance

I use Apple kit and the screens on the Macbook Pro are really quite good. Of course that doesn't help you in what you are looking for. Apple cinema displays are really good but a bit expensive. If you want good but budget then Dell screens are good. I believe they have some inbuilt color calibration as well, if not then that is something that you need if you are doing professional work.

Dell has 2 ranges, the consumer rubbish stuff and the high end. The first is not good for your purpose, the second is good.

Whatever monitor you get, the colour reproduction will only be as good as the calibration carried out between your camera, scanner, printer & monitor.

When I worked in a graphic design studio, we had someone come in once every 3 months to recalibrate our equipment.
