Which front pads?

Had a quick search earlier and i came across mixed answers on what brake pads to use on the front of the M, so i thought i would try a direct approach, i use my car mainly as a toy and the odd day a week to work, also later this year i will be doing a trackday or 2 so i need something that will hold up to them as well, I'm not a fast driver so i dont need nothing serious but be able to do the task. Any help is appreciated :thumbsup:

Don't know what the others are like as I've only ever used OEM BMW pads and then upgraded to EBC Yellowstuff (40k miles out of the fronts), EBC Bluestuff NDX (40k miles out of the fronts), and latterly Pagid RS19 (less than 20k miles out of the fronts). Used all of the upgraded pads for daily driving, track days and ring trips.

I worked it out that the Pagid RS19 cost me 4x the price of the EBCs in real terms (twice the price, and half the life) - but the RS19 was a better pad (other than the amount of brake dust on the wheels).

I've read & heard about people having issues with EBC pads (usually Greenstuff or Redstuff), but I've never experienced any issues myself and probably covered over 80k on them in the Z4, and about the same on my e34 M5s (same front pad IIRC).

Thank you for the mini review! May i ask where is the best place for the EBC yellow stuff?

Last set I bought was from Demon Tweeks (bit of an emergency after running out of pad at Oulton Park - one lap after the warning light came on) - and they cost about £110. Most places will sell them for £110-£120.

The only places I've found them slightly cheaper is CarParts4Less on ebay (£92) or KAM Racing (£98) or Demon Tweeks (£110).

No problem, hope you like them. The Bluestuff are even better when warm, but can be a bit dead when cold (not dangerous though as they warm up quickly) - not strictly road legal though as they don't have their R90 certification (which the Yellowstuff do).

Maybe I'll get a free set of tyres/discs for my contributions.
 
Has anyone had Ferodo DS2500 pads on the front? Raved about in the Audi/VW world and worked well on my Brembo 4pots retrofitted to my S3.
