Which DAS 6 polisher?

So I thought I'd venture into the world of DA polishing and get the DAS 6.
Now looking on 'cleanyourcar' website, there are three versions
DAS6 v2
DAS6 Pro
DAS6 PRO+

Being a complete novice, whats the difference?
The v2 is said to be for novices (like me), but is it worth getting the next model up?

Also there are various different packages available, what's a good starting point?
My current wash kit is mainly AG stuff, are these compatible with rotary polishing?

Any advice welcome, might put this on my Xmas list

I have the DAS6 Pro, I would say that would be a good one to get

The higher DAS6 models just tend to be a bit higher power but you don't really need it for home DIY use. The v2 will be fine.

I wouldn't bother with the kits.

A good starter package would be:

Das6 v2. (You will get a 5.5" and a 6" backing plate with it).
Chemical guys orange 5.5" hex logic pad - for correction
Chemical guys blue 5.5" hex logic pad - for finishing
ShineMate75mm (3") Dual Action Backing Plate
ShineMate - 3.2" Blue Polishing Pad - for light correction and finishing in tighter areas.

Sonax cutmax (for heavy swirls and deep scratches)
Sonax EX04-06 (for moderate swirls and good finishing)

You will get good results with that. Here's a few pics of mine using the above...


1) Typical paint defects on boot.





2) Corrected with 3" blue pad + Sonax cutmax. Pass 1:




3) Pass 2:




4) Finish with Sonax EX04-06:



5) All car complete. Treated with Gtechnique Crystal Serum Light + Bolt Hamber double speed wax

Can you also use it for polishing the wax after application?

You wouldn't generally use a DA for removing wax. This is done by hand. However, you could use the DA to apply wax using a soft finishing pad (red hex logic etc). You will find that applying products with the DA gets a much thinner even coverage which is a breeze to buff off with a good quality deep microfibre.

Good result ph001 black is not easy to work with and is a ba****d to maintain so all credit to you.

I'm looking forward to polishing my Alpine White as its a bit swirly, you cant get that great wet looking finish like you can with dark colors
but then white goes hide a lot of defects.

Thanks. It's actually Monaco Blue but it looks black in most pictures. You will get those swirls out no problem - it's the deeper scratches that take a bit of work and a bit more care... especially if you start wet sanding with 3000 / 5000 grit paper. As you say, white good for hiding most things, the dark blues and blacks are dreadful!!!!

I looked at the DA6 pro, but it only has an 8mm orbit (the effective "cutting" stroke" so I went for the Vertool DAS21E which has a 21mm orbit, the same as the much lauded Rupees Bigfoot.

Having used mine back to back with a friends DAS 6 PRO, there is no comparison. The Vertool is quieter, more balanced, vibrates a lot less in use and does the job a LOT quicker, which is especially important when dealing with the rock hard clear coat on our Zeds...
