Which Aux cable??

Hi Folks,

Bit of help please as audio is not my strong point :headbang:

Having just bought an iPod touch from Ranski I need an Aux lead to connect it up in place of 6 cd changer. Not fussed about the changer as the cassette has been jammed in the damn thing since I bought the car anyhow. :x

Problem I have is that I don't know which headunit I have or which lead goes with which unit. Any links or suggestions would be really useful please?

I called BMSheffield who want £70 :o . The threads on here suggest the e46 or mini lead as these work and don't cost as much apparently but I'm clueless in what to ask for.

Thanks folks.

I bought one of these:

Worked just fine.

The guys who sell them are very helpful too so if you get in touch they'll make sure it's right for your car.

i put a wanted Ad up on here and got a new o.e one for 30 quid, proper bmw quality with the wires wrapped nicely, it seems alot of people have them lying around as i got 3 PMs from that advert.... stick one up for yourself and see what happens, may save some money,.

DO NOT BUY CHEAP!

I've had eBay/cheap cables and they hiss and sound awful! OEM is the only way if you want aux I've had no issues with mine...

With AUX you get what you pay for....

Thanks chaps. I'll give the ebay chaps a call and if not try Beedub's suggestion.

If you go eBay cheap make sure it has resistors and capacitor fitted or it won't work at all.... :(

Fruity cables are ok but hisssssss! I know from experience!

I do have audio-itis .... :)

Thanks Terry.

I'll try Beedubs idea first then.

Cheers

Good luck in your searching for a OEM aux cable.. Worth the wait or go for a dice unit :)

Okay, so i couldn't get an OEM one without paying £50 plus so I've ordered the one Budfox has suggested for now as i start my road trip in a little over a week.

Thanks Terry for all your suggestions and I'll make sure i use that guide when fitting so hopefully i can keep the CD changed. May well look into a DICE at a later stage too.

Thanks again
