Where to buy roof motor?

Hi Guys,

My roof has finally succumbed to its watery fate and refuses to pull the roof down, I am planning to follow the shipkillers guide and replace it myself.

Where is the best place to buy a replacement motor?

Do I need the motor only or should I be buying the complete motor/hydraulic assembly?

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I have searched before posting.

Thanks in advance.

Don't give up on your old motor so soon. Try removing it, drying it out and unseizing it (Diesel bath / WD40). Unless it's an electrical fault it may be salvageable. Then move it into the boot and either forget about it, or budget for a new motor when you want to replace it.

Theres a guy in germany who relocates the motors to the boot area-he has worked on hundreds of cars with "dead" motors & apparently has only had to replace a handful of them, as mentioned above they can be revived.

There was a post recently about a guy in Durham doing the same as the German fella looks really neat from the photos

I just had the issue and removed mine, I am still working on it to get it working again.

I have bought a motor from eBay for 110 inc p&p and with a 30 days warranty.

I WILL revive mine and keep it as a spare.

I have used the shipkillers guide to remove my motor and it is a decent guide to be honest, my only advice is to be VERY CAREFUL about the paint as I have managed to cause a couple of minor scratches on mine bearing inn mind that I was a proud to point out and say that my ZED hasn't got a single scratch, so use all you can to cover the paint, masking tape, towels, whatever you really can. secondly allow a full day or weekend even (It took me a day and a half) and make sure you are in a garage or check the weather that it won't rain :)

I will ask the guy I bought my motor from to see if he got anymore !

Or you could contact these guys, excellent service and get cash back for your old motor.
