Where i am at the mo

Can I ask a serious question to hunter...

What is the safety procedures in place to stop you from actually falling/jumping in when the sea is like that? It looks like those waves would smash you off the platforms of those lower levels if you were walking there... also if someone did go overboard and someone saw are they as good as dead? or is there an actual rescue/safety plan in place to cater for moments when this occur?

This puts my fear of cruise ship leaning to shame...

Criky that's some serious weather - can you feel the rig move at all ? Most my hubby has been out kitesurfing is 51 knots - but then he is nuts!

Stay safe and hope you get home soon.

When it like this we dont let anyone work on the lower levels (below the moduled struture) for most others its business as usual. There is a handrail around the different levels to avoid anyone falling overboard but if they did...its a case of keeping them in view and throwing them a ring....there is a safety boat stationed just of every platform (sometimes shared) but in this weather its doubtful it would be able to get to anyone in the water. In the water...this weather...chances of surviva???l......more chance of winning two lottery jackpots on consecutive draws. lol

All resect to you working out there, would never get me on one of those, nor on the helicopter taking you back and forth.

For me...the helicopters are the worst part of it...they get thrown about by the wind and are always going "tech"...breaking down or developing problems....its not a nice experience..18 guys jammed in like sardines. some just fall to sleep...i cant tho..i feel every drop and buffet.

Suggestion for a money making scheme - sell a couple of seats to thrill seekers.

That is madness, stay safe

Utmost respect to you guys out on the rigs. That weather is way beyond fun!

Stay safe and hope you get home to your family soon.

Hi Hunter,

Great post - how do you get from the accommodation to the rig? How far are you from the mainland?

All the best!

:driving:

about 200 miles and the accommodation barge pulls up close and a bridge is dropped between the two

made it home…so last few days with the cayman s and hopefully pick up the E89 on mon / tues :D

Good to hear you are home safely  how many of those trips do you make in a year? 200 miles :o and do you ever see sharks :?

Now that's some proper weather. I'll just get my board.
Wouldn't fancy the 200mile flight in a chopper though, those thing used to be forever breaking down on the trusty rusty Lusty. Are they still flying the old Seakings?

Good to here your back home safe for New year.
