I've got 108's on the car but the rims are starting to show the usual signs of deterioration, not bad a the moment but they are not going to get better.
The tyres (runflats) have 5mm on the front and about 4mm on the rears.

Do I :-
a) Have the wheels refurbished and buy a new set of rubber or
b) Look around for something used with decent rubber?

Has anybody been in a similar situation?
 
I would referb and get new rubber.
I have had two sets supplied by BMW (but out of warrenty now), and the origional set of wheels from the car that I got from new. I'm going to referb mine this summer. :(
 
i would replace 108's, i love the looks but i could not cope with the maintenance

I have MV2's, they are a pain to clean
 
I had mine swapped by BMW last year and immediately went aftermarket. As much as I love the 108 I could deal with the care they require.... My car often spends long stretches outdoor unmoved which in the rain would eventually corrode the wheels.
 
get the lips refurbed in silver - no maintanace like usual and smart looking rims (thats what im currently doing)
 
I would get them refurbed too,as they are my favourite wheel on the z4,despite the extra care needed,and havinh had mine refurbed once in 4yrs of ownership,isnt too bad. as for tyres,ditch the runflat rubbish,and get some superb Vredestein Ultracs fitted,then buy a cpl cans of holts tyrefoam(asda/£4 each) and a Ring auto compressor(circa £20),and u will Transform the ride/handling comfort and characteristics of your z4 :-)

Craig, as my new 108's come with michelin pilot sports im happy but i thought the tyre foam pumped the tyre up aswell or is that in my head lol

Nah, not enough pressure simply in the can of foam to reinflate a punctured tyre up to the correct pressure, so compressor required too. Or at least that's what I'm led to believe anyway - not actually read the instructions on the can of foam (I'm a bloke after all :D)
 
I know its a little bit off topic - but, If I go down the refurb and new rubber route - Should I put on the Vredesteins or the Falken 452.
I've got Vred sessantas on my wifes A4 Quatrro and have no complaints but there is that temptation of a £40 saving for the rears and about £25 for the fronts - Or am I being a penny pinchin' tight old git who will regret saving the £130 ?
 
On the topic of wheels, what wheels are these, and are they Z4 specific. Not been able to find any more examples of them...do they have a name?!
 
Yes ! MV3 On most E90`s Off sets would not fit Zed . think they may be available with correct off sets for Zeds.
 
I've bought the new rubber (Vredestein = £430 ) Now I will have too find a decent refurbisher - there is a good place up this area but wants £125 per wheel - Is that a bit steep or is it just me being a tight old git?

Bearing in mind the the insurance company will will always want to hike up the price as well.
