Wheels...

Everyone seems to get the CSL rims if they upgrade. Anyone got anything different? My favourite wheels are either BBS LM split rims or Alpina 'turbine' wheels, but I don't know what either looks like on a Z4MC

Check through the Gallery section, several have pics of their wheels. I personally like the M6 reps

My ears are burning. :?

ovrkll, are you gonna get yourself a set? It would look hawt on your ride, mate.

Looking that way, Rick Hunter, just have to wait until after HC and see what my finances look like (Christmas is right around the corner). M6 reps with Goodyear Eagle F1's is a nice chunk of change that could be better used elsewhere :idunno: . We'll see
:)

Well they're not called turbines, but they look like a turbine. Classic Alpina wheels, like this:

Yeah they are called Alpina Classic wheels. Then there are variuos versions, softlines softlines II's etc. Should all be on the Alpina website.

and specifically mentioned on each and every policy form I have seen ... right next to the bit about duty to inform about speeding convictions (or pending) :x

Yes, it's crap isn't it? I mean, you don't notify the insurance company if you put different tyres on, right? If the wheels are round, the same size as the old ones, and have spokes connecting the hub to the rim, I reckon they're equivalent form, fit and function.

Fully agreed. I don't even care wether they are covered (over the standard wheel value). However, insurance co's are famous for using the get out clause of "more likely to be stolen" or something like that.

Not that it matters that as if they are stolen, they would not know they were not original :D

If there is an accident however, and you don't have the time to remove them, they "might" use it as an excuse that your car was not as per contract so therefore only covered third party or so.

This is only the case in the UK though, not ever seen it in any other country where I have insured cars ...

I'm considering BBS RX2 or O.Z. Racing Ultraleggera Crystal as alternative wheels for my car, but TBH I'm not sure I will change them... I actually quite like the design of the standard wheels, TBH...

I use M3 18" wheels for track work at the Ring and I quite like them. They change the look of the car to a very retro one... Have to get some pics out of my phone on Monday...

I'm actually having a hard time finding a set of wheels. Here are a few of the ones I'm looking at. Some brands you wouldn't normally see on a BMW but they're all forged.

If I had to choose right now, I'd probably get the CCW Classics. 18x9 front 18x10.5 rear. 19 and 22 lbs respectively. But I'm still undecided. :(

Work VS-XX Gold. 19x8.5 and 19x10

BBS LM. Silver or Gold 19x8.5 and 19x10

BBS LM-R. Silver or Gold 19x8.5 and 19x9.5

CCW Classic. Silver, Gold, maybe Black 18x9 and 18x10.5

Volk TE-37. Silver, Black, or Bronze 19x8.5 and 19x10.5, these are the wheels TC Kline Racing sells. But they sell under TCKR instead of Rays.

I decided on the path less traveled & went with Volks... Progressiv ME (monoblock forged).

inTgr8r,

You did choose a path less followed, but man was it a good one. The Progressiv MEs look beautiful on your car. I'm going a path less traveled as well. I've had an extremely difficult time deciding on wheels, but I think I chose wisely. The wait for saving is killing me. Even saving a good chunk a month it's gonna take me several months.
