Just seen an episode with the AC Cobra. They did it up and sold it for £23k.

But of course it was not an original AC Cobra but a replica. Not sure how I feel about replica cars, whats the point? Bet BMW would not allow a replica mini to be made!

A quality replica can be a nice thing, some like that WD Cobra are probably a better car than the original, same for stuff like Chesil speedsters etc. And unless you are super-rich who is going to invest £100k in an original let alone hoon or even park it?

When we were at SS Classic last year the club next to us was the GT40s but out of the 5 that turned up, 1 was real and the rest were reps not that most people would have known............but the tax disc were the give away because they had GT40 replica printed on them. Oh and the rep owners were the worst people we stumbled across where as the bloke with the genuine car was lovely.

I think replica cars have their place. But like all replicas it's how someone responds when asked if it's genuine and I'm sure that owners of the replicas take some stick/banter from the genuine owners.

Guilty as charged. I had a Cobra replica (AK) before switching to the Z. For me, it was always my poster car as a kid, but knew I would never be able to afford a genuine one. Still loved the sense of occasion in that car, and the pull of a 6.7l V8 in a with little weight to hold it back!

Seeing as how the original AC Cobra was a mongrel and a bitsa then I can see that a modern interpretation would work and be enough for us 'poor' folk. For me a Cobra needs that glorious body shape, a few styling cues and an impressive engine. As long as it handles ok that'll do.

Can't see replicas of Ferraris and the like being right though . . . . :? :(

Love Cobras but not sure about driving one around my housing estate  When I had a TVR Chimeara I always felt like a hairy chested medallion man. I felt like Tom Jones shouting out 'Here I am! Yere! Look at Me!' (Didn't keep it long but it sounded fantastic and it was always a terrific event taking it out  ).

Can't imagine how I would feel in a Cobra with loud pipes :o

Cobra Replicas are really nice. Wide selection of good and not so good mongrels out there. You really need to be a spanner monkey to run one though. Which rules it out for me.
