Wheel spacers - 3.0si

15mm even on my lowered and more camber rear looked better than 20mm and stock. 20mm looked too wide even though just 5mm difference.

As for it being more twitchy on 20mm over 15mm I can’t tell a difference however I haven’t owned the car on standard setup either. Certainly less tram lining though with current setup.

I’m sure the steering is heavier with 20mm spacers too. This makes sense as you are increasing the scrub radius of the tyres. Have you noticed that?

I still think the steering is to light on centre and had to have it in sports mode to get rid of that.

Again I’ve only had the car with 15mm spacers on the front so going to 20mm I haven’t noticed any difference.

Agree with that - only a hydraulic conversion can solve that issue

I was having major issues with tramlining on mine and knowing basically everything on the front and rear suspension has been replaced fairly recently (sub 5k) and the alignment was spot on I started hunting around for the culprit. I started by taking the F15mm & R20mm spacers off (as I was thinking scrub radius) and it improved things a little. I then reduced the front camber to SE spec from being maxed out, again a slight improvement. In the end I bit the bullet and replaced my Michelin PS3 front tyres with over 5mm of tread on them and no obvious funny wear with brand new goodyear F1s, that finally sorted it. That was about a 1,000 miles ago and still going ok. I re looked at the old PS3's off the car and under a real close inspection I think the tyres look like they may have worn ever so slightly funny. It extremely minimal though. Very very slight feathering I dont know if this is a result of the previously worn suspension components /front track arms/rear bushes etc, the maxed out camber or the alignment being out pre the suspension work. TO be honest it could be a combination of all of them. Or its that minimal it could just be normal wear for that tyre. With that in mind I'm about to (when I get around to it) try to refit the spacers and see what happens, if that goes ok I may max out the camber again too just to see what happens etc

My E86 rubs with 15mm spacers on the front when pushing hard through compressions. M-Sport equivalent springs from Suplex, not lowered.

Quick follow up having had 20mm spacers on the front for a week now. I’m confident the steering is LESS twitchy as a result. Am taking it in for full alignment by a specialist today (not hunter, good old string and time behind the wheel experience) so interested to see how it feels afterwards.

Regarding rubbing in the front wheel arch, do a full lock to lock at slow speed to check the wheels don't rub on the arch liners at the front where the light access covers are. Mine rub on full lock with minimal compression, standard set up, 108's and 12mm spacers.

Glad your steering feels improved. :driving:
