Wheel hubs

The wheels on my z are immaculate for an 06 car however the rear wheel "hubs ( not sure if thats correct term)" are starting to rust. I think that this was due to the previous owner washing the car and storing it in the garage when the wheels were still wet. I have seen a thread about this but cannot find it. I have the 18 inch sports wheel fitted and wondered what was the best way to tackle this.
If i used a fine emery and sanded back to the metalwork what would be the best paint to apply that would be a reasonable match. ( silver enamel , possibly?)Anybody had a similar issue with this??

i have just done mine - i used Hammerite smooth paint in silver - no photo to show you but they look pretty good.

Frankly anything will do. Hammerite. Caliper paint, engine paint. I had some aluminium high temp paint and that did the job perfectly and lasted well.

Just clean the area and mask the brake surface so you don't get too much overpaint.

Btw - they are usually called rotor or disc top hats.
 
i'm onto painting my hubs this coming weekend, if it's raining.

silver smoothrite; as well as the brake surfaces, i would say be absolutely sure to mask the mating surface that faces the wheel itself, a bit of paint on here could cause a wobble...

anyone done anything with the end of the brake discs? that seems to be a bit rusty too..
