Wheel Bolts

Hi.

Does anybody know how much a new set of wheel bolts cost? Mine are abit rusty and having car OCD I'm thinking of replacing them.

Can you get painted bolts? Black ones would be good, but I'd want them to be durable so that the paint doesn't flake off as soon as you put a socket on them.

Plastic caps? Ebay has loads in differing colours/finish/quality. I have them on my Saab, don't look too bad.

I assume the z4 uses the same bolts as a 3 series?
 
New ones from BMW are black and they are £3.50 each...I know this because some bugger nicked one of mine and to replace one bolt cost this much.....changing 5 or 4 on each wheel if you have a locking wheel nut won't be cheap.....
 
£3.50 a bolt is alot!

I did pay £8.80 of a piece of pastic the size of a 2 pence piece at BMW recently

I've ordered a set from Ebay for £28.

I like these - the smooth (as opposed to dimpled) top is nice. There is only one BMW type though, so I assume these fitted fine ?

They were perfect - look lovely and shiny too. Made the centre caps look shabby so had to change those too! :)

New chrome bolts for my Roadster S from Alpina via Sytner cost (sit down) pennies shy of £400 inc VAT for the set of 16 :rofl: That's £20.83 +VAT EACH :?

My originals were wrecked by overtightening by a tyre-ape, so I replaced with a set of zinc platers from wheelfittingsolutions last year as quality chrome bolts are very hard to source....many avenues have been exhausted. The WFS-supplied bolts surface-corroded within weeks of 'winter weather' and look $h1t now, so I'm in the market for replacements. These boys on ebay sell BIMECC bolts (OEM and same as WFS) at VERY reasonable cost and are investigating sourcing chrome for me, but can supply standard colours for under £20 delivered. If their chrome (if they can source any) are too expensive, I'll just buy a set of new shiny zinc plated every year at those costs.....

Oh, and my final words on WFS. Superb pre-order, very efficient delivery, but no response whatsoever 4 months later when I asked them why their bolts were corroding so quickly and if they did a higher quality/longer lasting finish I could purchase from them. Didn't respond to the follow-up message, either :x Lost my business.....
 
or do something really different and also add some practicality into the mix, easier wheel on/off times and much stronger not to mention the nice look....

stud conversion to ARP super strength blackened units shot peened and tested to insane Tq loads..... i combined them with magnesium composite wheel nuts... the whole set including the locking units were 20 grams....

No corrosion what so ever and the nuts still look brand new after lots of heat cycles and loads of wheel on/offs.... this setup is alittle pricey but will last the life of the car....The nuts have a rotating color as well for a nice Tq down without damaging your rims.

Its another option and really makes life easier to boot!!
 
I like the shiny ones, makes mine look awful....
