wheel balancing weights

Leeds - you know where it is
Chaps, need a bit of help/advice and thanks in advance.

I've had a wheel off the car to clean and protect for winter. Silly old me has managed to knock a 5 gram balancing weight off. You know how they stick them in a line together, well, the one at the end of the line has come off. Also in the mix is that I've now daubed wheel seal all over the area.

The question, in brief, is can I stick this weight back on and how? I have superglue (2 elements that you mix together - probably the glue and the hardener I guess) or I have... some honey?

Would I be better off taking a trip to a wheel shop and asking for some of the rubber tape/glue stuff (the spongy black rubbery stuff that sits between the weight and the metal of the wheel - mine has disappeared from under this particular weight) and self-applying at home?

Many thanks

I wouldn't want to use any form of super glue on my alloys as the glue will damage the alloy wheel paint when you have to next remove it. For peace of mind and for all the cost and time it takes, I would just visit a tyre fitters and get a new weight, a lot less hassle in the long term

Yeah, I get the "superglue won't ever come off" thing and had concerns myself. I have the weight here in my hand. You'd have thought they'd give me some rubber and glue wouldn't you?
Cheers for the response.

Spoke too soon. Three of the buggers off now. I think this is only heading in one direction - wheel balancing shop here we come...

Hi Stevo Ive had same problem in the past, little trick I do after balancing is brush a couple of coats of clear lacquer over top and around edges of weights. Cheers Baz

Hey, that does sound like quite a good idea Baz, thanks, I think I'll follow your lead on that.
