Wheel Alignment

Just had new tyres fitted to my Z4 - went for the Michelin PS2 and the advice of folks on here - thanks again for that.

Just curious though, I was suckered into getting the tracking done on the car and the guy looks up the correct toe in/out setting on a chart. Can anyone here confirm what this should be for the Z4? - I am assuming because he didn't ask me what engine size I had etc it is the same across all of them (except maybe M/Alpina).

Thanks

I was told last year that only main dealers had the correct equipment to do it. Went to kwik fit and another 4 tyre places and they all told me the same thing. They said something about the car having to be under load? Took it to the main dealer and they did it no problem. If i recall correct it was quite expensive to get done. :x

Perhaps you were looking to get a full four wheel alignment done in which case specialist equipment might be needed (although I'd be surpirsed if only BMW could do it).

Does anyone know if the standard setup for the Z4 is toe out, neutral or toe in?

About £250. Even other garages say they can do wheel alignment for BMW. I would not trust them. I had VW Polo done at kwik-fit for £30. The technician did not even check the specific set-up for the car before adjusting the wheels.

All you need is a garage which can do 4 wheel alignment, BMW are not the only garage that can do it. Usually takes about 1 hour or more to do thats why it costs so much, hence the price from BMW. have a look here

Try Wheels in Motion http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/ They use state of the art equipment and do a fantastic job. I used them for setting up an MX-5 which transformed it.

I've had mine set up with a 4 wheel alignment. Made a big difference to how the car felt.Luckily I have a local tyre shop who have the kit AND know how to use it, did mine for £85.Recommended.
