Wheel alignment results

Hi guys,

Had my wheel alignment carried out today. Can definitely feel the difference.

I've just been checking the readings (before and after).

There are a couple of items where I feel I would have had a better final reading. What are your thoughts? I've attached the readings.

looks nice. what would you wanted better? more camber around?

looks like they taken the specs for an M-sport model where your car isn't one? (hence the ride height which differs 20mm)
 
Mmmm I did notice that. I'll query that with them tomorrow. Thankfully that hasn't been adjusted anyway.

Yep, I think the camber on the right (front axle) could have been more towards the target.

Cross camber and the camber on the right side front could have been slightly better.

Probably me just being picky though!! :P
 
Front camber hasn't been adjusted, that's just a nuance after they jiggled the toe.

I run less front toe but the main thing I'd do if I were you is go back and get them to pull the front camber pins and then max out front camber. One will go more than the other so just bring one back to match the lowest value. You'll feel much better front grip in the corners.

If you want a more lively rear end then take the camber to back where it was at just over a degree.

yeah thats really picky to be honest. i don't know if they put weights in the car (as per BMW manual, but most companies don't do it) but sitting in the car alone can put the camber to -0,45 on the right so that will be even then.

For reference, my settings are as follows (2003 original ride height)
Camber -0,31 -0,51
castor 4,26 4,19
toe 0,07 0,06 total 0,13

REAR
camber -2,15 -2,14
toe 0,10 0,11 total 0,21

so almost the same only camber in the rear is much more on mine
 
Spoke with the tech this morning. He said with my car (08) the camber on the front isn't adjustable?? But is on the earlier releases on the car.

Don't ever go there again. Find someone who knows what they're doing.
 
Quite shocking from them. I actually had it done at BMW. What's worrying is the guy was adamant it couldn't be adjusted.

What do you think guys? should I go back and advise I've been told different? Feel like I will probably be flogging a dead horse :headbang:
 
It's definitely adjustable as stated. If you can get it done for no extra cost then go back, otherwise go somewhere else where they know their arse from their elbow. You won't get a lot of adjustment but even half a degree is well worth it.

Using my VIN which is for a facelift E85.

You also have the proof above. If I were you'd I'd be making a serious complaint regarding the competence of the 'tech' and would want reimbursement for fuel and additional time wasted in going back for a second time.

The service advisor gave me a call yesterday. With a big apology. It's going in next week for the front adjustment.

Thanks guys for your assistance with this. Supplying them with the proof they had no other way to turn.

Should never have happened in first place mind.

I had mine done and the rear maxed out at -1.5 camber, this should be around -2.5 from the TIS.

Could worn components affect this? What would need changing if so?

Don't know what worn components should affect camber, but from what iv'e read -1,5 rear & abou t -1,5front is the sweet spot
 
Don't go looking for 2.5 on the rear. The fact that the M runs a lot less from the factory tells you all you need to know.
