Wheel alignment prices!

Just had all four corners of rubber replaced so thought!! maybe have all four corners aligned as well.
Rang Sytner first for a quote which was £185.00 Gulp :cry: !! then she said she would ring me back after speaking to the boss and ask if they
could do me a better deal and will ring me back later. OK.

Then i gave a local Merc specialist garage for a quote, four wheel alignment please, laser type. £31.00 sir.
So booked that straight away.

Then had my call back from Sytner, can now do the check for £99.00 :rofl:

Do BMW do anything different in order to justify their charges, anyone know? is the BMW alignment check and adjust different with them??
 
Years ago I tried to get the tracking done on our MR2 but nowhere would touch it other than Toyota.
Apparently Toyota never released the info on how to adjust the wheels so you had to go to them to get it done.
Most garages could do the fronts no problem but could not do the rear.
This was around 12 years ago and Toyota took £120 for the job.

Is the quote from the Merc garage for alignment only? How much do they charge for each adjustment? Do they use Hunter machines to do the alignment?

You may find that the Merc garage in the long run is more expensive and maybe not as accurate!
 
Yea £31 doesn't sound right to me I think that is just the normal tracking price a 4 wheel alignment costs between £60 and £140 usually.

Its booked in to be done on Thursday guys so i will be asking questions when i get to the workshop, especially about what difference BMW could be doing,
and i did ask when i booked that this price was inclusive of all necessary adjustments. After all how many types of Laser alignment machines are there?
I didn't ask if it was the Hunter system but will on Thursday and update this.
I was dubious myself at £31.00 because its such a difference, but BMW initially said £185 then came down to £99.00 :roll:

The cars driving fine, its just having it checked may give me more miles out of the new tyres :!:
 
Local Indy near me does a hunter alignment check for free and then you pay for any adjustments they make. If all wheels need adjusting it will cost you about £100

I got mine done for about £85 incl. VAT recently, full hunter alignment and then sone adjustments a month later free of charge. Got a discount as I'd posted on here in advance and they saw it, should've been about £120 incl. VAT from memory. Oh, they balanced both front wheels for free too :D

Worth emailing them and saying you found out about them on here. I think Jan_Tekin is intending to use them and get his RTAB limiters fitted at the same time.
 
OK after all valuable comments here i thought best i ring the Merc. garage up again and this time confirm that the equipment
being used will align both rear and front, and not just the front off of the rear!!
You were right guys, i spoke to a different person this morning and asked the questions and found that the £31 was for tracking
the fronts off the rear. Cancelled my Thursday appointment now.
So glad i posted this up because i would have taken the car down and wasted my time.

So i will be ringing BMW back later and making sure that they would be doing the rear's first then setting the fronts!

Good choice, BMW will do it the right way i would think and £99 isnt a bad price :)

Maybe check out this website too, it will show you places near by with the hunter equipment and would be worth a call to see prices at different places :)

Thats pretty much the problem I had with the MR2, nobody other than Toyota could do the rears so other places could only do the fronts.
 
I used to get my Hunter alignment done by a mob local to me in Brentwood (who have now scarpered to East Hanningfield which is too far), which cost £70 for all four wheels.

I used AMD in West Thurrock just before Xmas and they came in at £120. I didn't think to check before I booked it in and had the work done, so I was surprised at how expensive it was by comparison.

Prices vary massively, for what is in effect the same service.
 
WOW! i must have had an amazing deal, took my zed to Walkers on Bradgate street in Leicester last week, wanted a couple of F1 eagles for the front and a full alignment.

Goodyear don't do eagles for my size wheels so they offered me the equivalent, still Goodyears, still excellent in wet and dry :)

Asked the obvious, and was amazed :o £275.00 all in and will chuck a free balance in as a thank you for my custom :o

Thinking quickly, i asked him if the alignment was "Hunter" and he just pointed over to a corner of the workshop to a sign 'HUNTER ALIGNMENT HERE'

Hunter alignment £25 00 :) :thumbsup:

so if anyone is in Leicester and wants to save money............... :driving:
