Anyone know what this platform is for, it has two protruding bolts. Should there be something bolted to it?

Also, what a clean bay you have there. What have you used to clean that up? I dare not show mine as I'll probably be banished from the forum for good. It's used daily on B roads so a lot of the countryside ends up in the bay.

Thanks Roundozo, but I can't take the credit - thats what it looked liked when I bought it last June. All I do is run a damp cloth over it now and again. A couple more pics :
