Hopefully you'll share some photos of your Z4 - we like photos on here.

Anyway, a 2006 could be a pre-facelift but it more likely a facelift.

Pre-facelift models have the M54 engine which needs oil that meets BMW LL01 spec and facelifts use the N52 engine that needs oil to BMW LL04 spec - I think the handbook will tell you.

Ive had a 53 plate 2.5 for just over 8 years and have used 5/30 Castrol Magnate C3 for all oil changes throughout the 60k miles I've done in it. Had no issues.

Only at just over 100k miles did I change to 5/40, also without any issues.
