What Triggers the Alarm?

Hi, is there any way to tell what triggered the Alarm i.e. which sensor was disturbed? Perhaps by the number of times the Red light flashes on the mirror or something like that? The only thing I noticed when I unlocked the car was that the Alarm light (on the mirror) flashed about 15 times - I'm hoping that is my Zed trying to send me a hidden message!

Some excerpts from the manual:

Indicator lamp displays
> The indicator lamp beneath the interior mirror
flashes continuously:
The system is armed.
> The indicator lamp flashes immediately
after the vehicle is locked:
Doors, hood or luggage compartment lid/
tailgate are not properly closed. Even if you
do not close the alerted area, the system
begins to monitor the remaining areas, and
the indicator lamp flashes continuously
after approx. 10 seconds. However, the
interior motion sensor is not activated.
> If the indicator lamp goes out immediately
after the vehicle is unlocked:
Your vehicle has not been disturbed while
you were away.
> If the indicator lamp flashes for 10 seconds
immediately after the vehicle is unlocked:
Your vehicle has been disturbed while you
were away.
After an alarm has been triggered, the indicator
lamp will flash continuously.



The vehicle alarm system responds:
> When a door, the hood or the luggage compartment
lid/tailgate is opened
> When attempts are made to start the vehicle
> When there are movements in the vehicle
interior: interior motion sensor, refer to
page 24
> When the car's inclination changes, for
instance if an attempt is made to jack it up
and steal the wheels or to raise it prior to
towing away: Tilt alarm sensor, refer to
page 24
> When there is an interruption in the power
supply from the battery

Thanks. So basically there is no way to narrow down what caused the alarm to trigger, it just tells you the alarm was activated?

this may help . . .a week after getting my zed i had the bonnet up for a couple of hours cleaning & getting to know the ins & outs , ,couple of hours later i could hear the alarm going off in garage . . strange . . did a forum search & came across the bonnet catch being a usual suspect , , popped up the bonnet & gave the sensor a good WD session & no more false alarms since 8)

I notice that when the car is locked (and presumably armed) with the roof down, I can reach in and take something off the seat without triggering the alarm. Should this be possible?

What is your reason for asking? I only ask because if it's a fault you are looking for with a sensor or switch inpa will tell you from the fault codes in the alarm module

How long after?

I believe the motion sensor are not active straight away

Also you arm has to be within view of the motion sensor

If you press the lock button once that is fully armed, press it a second time and the motion sensors are left off

So you can leave roof down, windows open or someone in the car with out it going off

I think the motion sensor takes about 30 secs to arm ? I left my car in a petrol station once with the roof down, locked it, then a minute or two later went back to get my wallet out of the door cubby - doh ! - and when I reached in the alarm went off. Bit embarrassing actually
