morning all,
considering the state of the wheels, i'm wondering if they were fitted from new as part of what's called "sports package " as they are i think, bmw 18", if so, anyone know how i can tell, as i have the sports button ,ashtray , as i believe some of these things were extra's.. and what about suspension, how can i tell if it's been uprated.. sorry for all the questions, but really ignorant on these things.. :?

Do you have the VIN number for the car? If so, there are online VIN interpreters that will tell you the build spec of your car.

This one worked for me some time ago when I was looking for the spec of my car. It's in German, but pretty straightforward (or use Google translate...)

What's your engine size, and what does it say on the V5?

If you have a chunky steering wheel, seats with side bolsters and the 18" style 135 wheels, then chances are it'll be a Sport model

cheers z4pilot, I have this but it doesn't mention wheels or suspension, so i assume they are standard.... :thumbsup:

The print off I got from that link shows mine as having;

S787A BMW LM Rad M Doppelspeiche 135 (BMW alloy wheel, M double spoke 135)
S704A M Sportfahrwerk (M Sports suspension)

Both listed under optional equipment.

hi,
had another look and can't see anything about wheels etc, maybe 1st owner just ordered a few extras, unless this is standard for this.. if anyone can see different , my last 7 digits are, LR43344. thanks again for helping... :thumbsup:

So I've used your Vin and there's an option to produce a PDF for your car, which handily includes photos of what the spec looks like on a completed car. Does this look like yours?

If so, I suspect that yours is an SE - purely on the basis that the seats in the photos are not sports seats.

Bugger - link doesn't work to the PDF - but if you re-enter the VIN, there's an option to view the output as a PDF, which includes the photos

yes looks exactly like mine... :) so it it's an SE, so standard suspension and wheels i assume.. haven't got the logbook back yet, but found those numbers in the service book.. cheers guys..
