What road / wind noise do you deem acceptable?

After owning the car for the past 6 months i've started to notice just how much road noise it generates compared to the usual saloon / hatchback etc - at 70 mph I have to have the OEM radio turned up around halfway to drown it out with a bit of windnoise from the rear compartment it seems - definitely not a quiet ride!

So what are your Zeds like for road noise? Am I just expecting too much from a 2 seater 'sports' convertible?

It's a roadster, what did you expect? Get MM to mod the exhaust and listen to that.

Runflats are pretty noisy, might be worth trying a car that has standard tyres?

With a roadster wind noise is all part of the thrill, it makes you feel as part of nature, hearing birds in the trees and getting a wiff of the farms you pass by on that pleasant evening run, as stated above losing run flats is a winner all round it lowers the tyre noise and gets rid of tram lining. If you really want solitude go for the coupe, Cheers bud...Baz

The Coupe is much closer to driving a boring old saloon. If it's a quite life your after then the roadster is the wrong car.

Personally all I normally hear is the engine and then wind noise, as the speed rises. Can't say I have ever noticed any road nose from the tyres.

The airbox that the intake tubes come out of is cast into the top of the transmission. The air filter is in the canister on top that is removable so it may be cleaned.

Back to the original question, Yes I do find my Z4 to have a lot of road noise, but it is a soft top roadster. It sounds about the same with the op up as it does with the top down.

Try twice that speed with the top down then its a bit noisy but at 70 top up no I think its fine no more noise than hard top cars I have driven or been a passenger in
