Just discovered this in the upper right hand corner of the glove box. Anyone know what this is for?

I've got a 2016 UK spec, I haven't got anything like that in mine

In the old days BMW used to have a rechargeable torch in the glove box, that kind of looks like it's for that although I doubt it is. The bean counters at BMW have gotten rid off all the little touches that made BMW a little different to the other cars things like the torch, a fairly well equipped tool kit attached to the boot lid etc.

I think I’ve got one of them in my E90. I think it was for a plastic 3rd/valet key that gave very limited functionality. I’m sure I read something about it when researching a key issue with the E90

But that may also be completely wrong!
