What is this piece and how do I fix it?

My 2005 2.5i top has a plastic piece that goes all the way across the front inside of the top and is cracked in several spots. Can I simply remove this piece (without removing the top) and fix it with a plastic welder? Is this piece separate or is it part of the whole top frame?

In a perfect world, I can remove the pieces and superglue and plastic weld it into a stronger piece.

I looked on RealOEM and couldn't seem to find this piece. I only see the whole frame.

Any help appreciated!

Ask our resident Breakers if they have a good replacement save you messing with a repair.

I found it online at several suppliers. Here is video how to, easy job:

No, that's not it. I already replaced that part.

If you look at the second picture I posted, you'll see the part I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure it's part of the soft top. I think it's a lip that secures the front of the top to the frame.

Breakers is a firm that dismantles cars, in the USA I think you call them wreckers. The part does indeed not appear in realoem, perhaps if you remove it, the part number may be underneath. They do appear to get broken easily.

Trouble is, even if someone in the UK has one, its a pretty fragile thing to post over to you.

I'm now pretty sure that the "part" I'm looking at is part of the canvas material that pulls over the frame and then is screwed into the frame. So, since I'm replacing the roof, I suspect it'll come with that part attached. If not, I'll have to fix it....

Yeah, I could just go to some junk yards here. I'm in Los Angeles, so there are a bunch of them.
