What happened to me?????

I took Zeddi in for the first oil service and had a few other little things to get sorted out. The service writer apologized in advance for the projected 10 day turnaround but assured me that I'd get a good loaner car. He was correct. I was given a 335i sedan. I want one, well actually I want a coupe. The twin turbo engine is a masterpiece but what really surprised me is the overall balance and......well.......near perfection of the 3 series.

Last weekend I took the 335i out on my favorite driving roads and came back amazed. It has better brakes than my 3.0i. It has better steering. It is MUCH FASTER. It has a way more compliant ride and room for my Bull Terrier in the back seat. The 335i loaner did not even have the Sport Package and I was knocked out by it.

My Zed comes back tomorrow and I'm really wondering how I'll like it after the 335i. WTF.

Don't worry. Once you smell the Febreeze in your Zed, you'll forget anything ever happened.

And if that doesn't work, then... wait for the 135i. Same engine, only lighter. :D

135 is not as light as people had speculated - not a material enough difference between the 335 & 135 ~ 100-200lbs using various measurements/options etc...

I hate to break the news to you, but I think that this means that you are ... growing up :-(

Fortunately, there is a cure. When you get the Zed back, put the top down, turn off the DSC, and drive like a bootlegger! I guarantee that will help you get over your mild case of adulthood.

~100lbs... that's like the weight of my wife. So, that means you'll be able to toss the car around with your wife / girlfriend inside and maintain the same performance as a 3er.

Thanks for all the input. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting Zeddi back in the morning. I love that car. The 335i is a delight and it might be my next car but comparing the two is really apples to oranges. I guess what really struck me most (aside from the power) is just the amazing refinement of the new 3 series. Indeed, the Z4 is an older product and these days one generation of change for a company like BMW is a major leap forward.

The Z4M is obviously a rocket but a "man of my station in life" (HAHAHAHAHA) simply does not use a clutch pedal any longer. I'm a firm Steptronic/Sport guy from here on.

BTW, as I mentioned a few weeks ago the reason for my prolonged absence from the forum was a new business my sweetheart and I have been forming. It's up and running and doing fine. Check our website at http://www.tecoloteguitarworks.com :driving:  :driving:

Hey Fire,

Restaurant? Nope, my lady friend and I started a new guitar business. Check the website I posted a little ways above.

I turned in the 335 and picked up Zeddi, dropping the top and driving way too fast back to work. That made me love my roadster again until I hit the brakes.........the 335i feels MUCH better in the brake department. I'm happy to have my car back but the 335 really spoiled me. I'm eager to see the 135i but somehow I think the 335 coupe is going to be my next car in a year or so but if Rick Hunter decides to sell his mini van I might go for that instead.

Funny thread, cars are alot like woman, we always see someone, something, better than what we have and want it, but everything has it's pro's and con's.
Men have affairs, but it never works out and are always worse off for it, a new car can be a lot of fun, but there is no comparison to a sedan to a ragtop, apples and oranges like you said.

my two cents.

:slappy:

OK fine. You've got first dibbs on my ///Mini\\\Van.

^^^ Specially when you ProCede them. Apparently they can then move quicker than Ferrari's

Problem with the chip is that you improve engine life and improve the transmission lifespan - not!
