what does full BMWSH mean?

I'm looking at a 6 year old car that has a PDI in Apr 04, a 14000 mile service in Apr 06 and that's it. Car is currently 1000 short of its next service at 28000. Strikes me that this isn't full but may be OK.
 
Not a full service history, should have an oil change every 2 years if service intervals are not reached. Who is selling it?

Then certainly not a full BMW service history! Maybe a bargaining point if everything else looks OK but if owner is not aware of service requirements then what else has he/she not bothered with - caution advised I think.

I would have needed at least an oil change in April 08 and again in April 10. Difficult to know when inspections should be done as they are mileage and driving condition related. That would worry me that the car has driven on the same oil for over 4 years!!!

It should also have had brake fluid changes at the same 2, 2 year periods.

This is a very poor service history from a seller that obviously is not aware nor cares, so negotiate on that basis.
 
so has this car lost its bmwfsh and will never be able to recover it.

If I buy it and put it straight into the bmw dealer for a service will I come out with a big bill. How big?

Is it possible to reinstate fsh with good servicing from now on

Of course it's lost it. The car has (based on tthe information you provide) missed 2 oil and 2 brake fluid changes. Simply putting it in for an immediate service does not replace missed service.

Does it mean the car is no good - your call, but I would not buy a car which drove for over 4 years on the same oil.....
Put another way in 6 years and 27,000 miles this car has been loked at just one :thumbsdown:
 
You can't reinstate it as it never had it, but you can have it serviced properly during your ownership, so if you were to sell later the buyer can tell you looked after it. I'm sticking to the BMW service schedule but it will be done by an independent garage.
 
Previous owner didn't believe in collecting MOT and bills. Did as much research as I could then put in a very low offer and got it. In dealer today for an inspection 1 and front discs and apart from that a clean bill of health. Thanks for all the advice on the board. Pics follow. 04 Merlot with beige oregon leather and only 27k miles.
