What do you think my car is worth?

OK, I'm considering selling my beloved Z4... I love her to bits, but shes sat on the drive most of the time, and I really should get sensible about it... So before I take more pics, in and out, and pop something in here/piston heads... I thought I'd get feedback on what she might be worth...

Its a 2005, 54 plate, 3.0i se, 37K miles, fantastic condition all round, manual, Pro Sat Nav, 108's, AUX input, PDC, electric mem heated seats, xenons, all the usual stuff like auto wipers and auto dipping mirrors (inc the wing mirrors).

Some pics I took from my post in the detaling forum on here...

Prices seem to be differing all over the place, so I'm just not sure what, if I were, to put her on for... While I dont want to let her go cheaply, I dont want her on the drive forever either...

Any thoughts appreciated.

lol god don't make me feel any worse. The more I review what it costs me sat there... the more I think back to car dreardom I need to go :(

I know this won't help, I work away for 9 month's of the year, so my Zed just sits gathering dust but I just can't bring myself to sell it, ok she's bought and paid for along time ago so it all cost's me is insurance and road tax every year.

if you can afford keep it, sell it and you'll regret it. :fuelfire:

Ugh, I do love the car, but with fuel prices going up, insurance has gone up too this year, and I'm paying a loan on it... I can't help think that the money could be better spent into paying off my mortgage that bit quicker! Having said that, I just blasted a lotus elise... I loved it...

I know how you feel. I keep thinking the same thing about mine. I even put it up for sale recently, but when the first person called to come and see the car, I knew I wasn't ready to sell it!

Hell, you have to enjoy some things in life, and all that'll happen if you pay off your mortgage will be that you end up getting a bigger house... That's what I'm saying to myself at the moment, but I may well change my mind in a few days or weeks! At the moment, at least I have a house, am 24, and enjoying life having a nice car that I can really enjoy some Pistonheads drives etc with.

Of course, on the other side of things, if you do pay off that chunk of money now, with the interest you'll save, you could get something twice as expensive when the mortgage is paid off. I think I worked out that if I put the value of my car in to the mortgage now, my mortgage would be paid off by the time I was about 35, and with the money I'd saved, I could get an Aston Martin V8 Vantage (or equivalent amount of money at the time) for no more physical outlay.

Everyone above's pretty much said what I'd say too - don't sell! You won't save that much, will you? I got a text from my mate the other night (he's refurbing a Pug 205 GTI) and all it said was "It'd be a lot better off if I didn't enjoy cars as much". So true, but i'd add "but life would be a lot more boring" to that too...

Practical side of things, prices are all over the place so I'm not keen to give you crap info. I bought my same age/lower miles/lower spec 3.0i se 54-plate for £10.4k 9 months ago, but I've seen a new member on here pay £13k+ for a similar car last week.

Well if I sold her, I'd be saving around £300 a month, as thats the combo of repayment and insurance per month. Quite a lot of money really. I'd only save that if I purchased some £3000 cronker tho... which I'd not be excited about, but much more pleased with it sitting in my drive most of the time, knowing its £300 a month towards my mortgage... ugh, its a tricky one... heart over head stuff...

You only live once!

(although there's a lot said for getting the house THEN getting the car, but you need to have some excitement/fun in your life :) )

SNAP - I know if I sell mine (and the other half always suggests it when I'm home....) I will find it difficult to fund another one. However in reality and if required it would have to go.

Be careful Gary, the grass is always greener.... I had a new TT & bought a 2002 Elise S2 as a weekend toy as the result of a 15 mile test drive. I loved the handling & chuckability but hated everything else. It was a pain to enter/exit, my wife refused to travel in it, the roof was an absolute pain to remove/replace, it sounded like a tractor engine was just behind your head & the trim quality was awful. As a weekend toy it was OK but if it will be your only car & you move from a quality Z4 to a "kit car" you will be very unhappy.

It also appeared to be very fast until a decent hot hatch blew past you. That's only because you sit so low! My old Smart Brabus Roadster was quicker. Just my opinion...

Just to put performance into perspective, my last cars were an Alfa Brera 2.4 200bhp diesel & a Fiat Grande Punto 130 diesel as a second car. I had them chipped to 260 & 157bhp respectively. The Fiat left the Brera for dead & returned 48mpg against the Brera's 36mpg!

My current Z4M Roadster is for sale to buy a BMW 123D for these reasons: Z4M=27mpg, 123D= 54mpg, Z4M 0-60=4.8, 123D= 6.9. Z4M Road Tax=£405, 123D=£120.

Unfortunately it's taxed 12 month's of the year, as when I am home it's my daily driver, and you can't buy road tax a month at time yet.

Wow, looking at the Autotrader and Pistonheads the prices are all over the place.
I would assume mine is worth about 12k to 12.5k as it is the same as yours but a 54reg.
I have been looking at Alpinas and M's for the last few months - they are going up in value now.. Maybe you should sit on it for a bit and see if the priced rise a little

I think its gone up as far as its going to for now, we're leaving summer after all, and its a roadster. I reckon I could get £12.5 at a push or £11.5 to sell it quickly. While car prices may be going up, so is my insurance. I'm trying to figure if I can get an old GTI for about £3K-£4k and just buy it outright. The saving on repayments and insurance would be nearly £300 a month, a tidy sum when put against my mortgage... just have to put up with driving a car that doesn't make me feel special any more...

Nows the time to sell by the look of it. Prices are up, so demand must be to.
Advertise and see what happens, you can always say no unless a good offer comes your way.

A small old hot hatch could be a lot of fun and a lot less worry when parking in tesco!

Well, I've put the AD on pistonheads... so we'll see what interest I get...

Apart from the Sat Nav and a couple of K miles, it is the same as mine - will be interested to see how you get on
