What do you reckon ??

Short journeys / very low mileage can be a killer of engines!

Short journeys yes, low millage however does not mean killer of engine as you might use the car for a decent long journey once or twice a year. As long as you maintain it and for short or not very frequent journeys I'd be having the oil replaced more than normal ie every 6 months.

There are lots of cars out there which only get used a few times a year and are donkies old.

Agreed in some respects but oil seals and those seals in the air con pumps don't like being unused. There are also brake seals etc that all like to be kept moving.

Generally tho, I only use a car when the whole system gets thoroughly warmed thro. Unless it's chucking it down!

Are you mad!

This looks like a cracking car, got all the bits you wanted and you don't have to shell out for the sat nav at an additional £2k.

Average mileage for a car is now between 12 and 15k a year.

This car is two years old, that's still under 11k a year. I wouldn't even let that filter into the thought process.

Love the colour with the red leather, got to be worth a look surely.

You're a long time dead after all...

As per his post on the first page, it would still cost him £35k, £35k he does not want or have to spend. You might only live once but putting yourself into financial difficulty possibly just for a car is not worth it. One of the lads on here already had to sell his car due to his 'man maths'. I know you could do select finance wit a balloon payment but some people like to own their cars outright or after financing it know that at the end of the term it's there without having to find £10-£12k

Agreed!

I can't get my head around these bubble payment/ lease deals either. It seems that you have all the usual depreciation , plus interest and nothing to show at the end if it - apart from coughing up a lump of cash to keep your car or the opportunity to keep on paying for another one on the same old merry go round. Or am I missing something ?

It's just like chucking a HUGE lump of cash away, I know they work for people who like to change cars after a set period of time. Unfortunately as bmw finance on used is usually higher than new they may tempt people with their select finance, low rates but that bubble! I'd hate to have a car I love only having to give it up because I can't pay the bubble. But bmw sometimes let you finance that. Again more money!

I always refer to these bubble ones as the never, never. That's what my folks used to call it as there was always at least 1 neighbour who would change cars every three years for the same car???

Yep I agree would love to check it out but I'm looking at a 570 mile round trip. Also average mileage on these cars seems more like 6 or 7k a year.
If anyone has as Space Grey near by I would appreciate a quick look can't say I've seen one in the metal

There's no average on these cars! Some barely turn a wheel yet others are used daily, summer and winter.
The main factor is have they been loved and serviced properly?

If you are interested in the car, phone and talk to the fella and ask about
It, service history , stone chips if any, warts and all. Treat the visit as a trip away not just a car viewing.

I bought both my zeds sight unseen. The latest of which I had paid for up front (BMW Park Lane) The deal was that if on delivery it wasn't 100% as described, it was money back. It was exactly as described.
If this car is the price and spec you want, just bite the bullet and at least phone the fella or you'll forever be saying "what if"
