What do we reckon

Noticed this after taking the E86 to the local car wash over Christmas because I couldn’t be bothered - assuming it’s been caused by some over zealous jet wash action (it did sound powerful while I was sat in the car) :headbang:

But wondering if the underlying issue was a poor touch up job by the previous owner - anyone else had the same problem and is the solution a full re-spray of the front bumper or is there another solution?

Irrespective of the hazards of car washes it shouldn’t have happened. I would suspect it is poor preparation of an earlier respray. The only long term solution is a respray by someone who knows what they are doing and do the proper preparation before painting. I doubt you will be happy with anything less.

Looking on the bright side, it is a chance to sort out all the little stone chips etc that Z4s collect in normal use.

Well done NickDe & Tinker15 I’ll follow your lead - obviously DOOM and Chris_D just take pleasure in someone else’s mistakes

Looks like the lacquer - I have a place I need to sort at the front and on my old one had a similar problem at the rear

don't get me/us wrong, not making fun of you.
being on other car fora as well (e.g. MX5), there's a general consensus about not using car washes, 2 bucket wash method, not taking pics of a dirty car and so on..could go on for days.
Chris_D just pointed it out in a rather funny way.
friends??

Car wash. :o Shoot em any ways.

Looks like it is just the laquer. Your local touch up rep should be able to sort that.

And then never ever take your p & g to another car wash.
