Hey - Thread title. aka What DID you newbs do to the poor Zed today?
I shelled out a silly amount of cash for a polycarbonate wind defuser on Amazon and waited like 2 weeks for the dam thing to arrive... only to find it's not fitting my E89 correctly. :? Apparently the marking E86 on the box is not an inspected by sticker !? :headbang:
Doh !

I started this as a joke but, my humor amuses only me :P
Can anyone point me toward the official 'what have you done for your E89 today?' thread?

I don’t think there is a thread by that title, there’s a generic “what have you done to your car today” thread that’s open to all :P

Well it made me smile OP, so thanks.

But as I have an E86 I don't know much about wind deflectors, although most people seem to rate the mesh ones much higher than the solid ones - I suppose they like to pass wind.

Passing wind seems to be a forum pass time no matter the venue. Tell what I did today was get initiated into the E89 mechanics fold. You see I had my eye on the spark plug hole when I stepped in and smacked my head unmercifully on that shark-toothed bonnet :o :x :!:
Made me dance a little jig with a watery eye. I feel completely initiated. Well, at least the dog was amused.

I put a polycarbonate wind deflector on the car. It tended to vibrate at times so I slit a length of large fuel line and slipped it on the bottom edge where it sits on the rear deck. More testing required. I'm thinking mountain roads and long straight aways should do it.

Ended up securing the poly wind deflector with 2 sided velcro strap - as you would say - works a charm. No more rattles.
Thinking about putting a little window tint on it down the road... In fact I bought 35% (CA legal side window) tint enough to do the car.
It's too darn sunny here.
Took delivery just now of the Remus exhaust system. It is a secondary cat-back (US only). Big box and surprisingly heavy. :?
Pics when I get it opened
Also some 15 and 20 mm wheel spacers came. Will see if the 20s fit the rear and 15 on front or if we have to go 15 rear and less or zip on the front

Anybody else new here doing anything ? Or you all just sitting there? :poke:

We installed the Remus exhaust. I'm happy with the sound. It is deeper and a bit louder without being obnoxious.
I'll post in the how to section along with some sound bytes later.

Gonna have to disagree there, I bought a solid perspex one for blue, and was very happy, no vibrations and did a great job, Steve has a pucker see-through one and I think it's pants by comparison, no doubt better than bugger all, but definitely not as good at stopping wind, especially behind the head/neck.

I installed some wheel spacers and I think it looks better and maybe drives a bit better too.
Washed all the bugs off the front... she's a regular killer. :P

Got a photo that shows the spacer effect please.
I asked recently for mine and general advice seemed to be 15mm rear and nothing on the front. (On 18 inch rims, can't recall what yours are?)

I went with the stock base model tire in Michelin Pilot 4s it's just a 225 45 17 tire. So not overly filling the wheel wells but riding very nice with plenty of grip. Suspension is all new standard Bilstein 4. I went with 18 rear and 10 front. 10 front put the rubber flush with the fender lip. And 18 rear pushed the tire 1-2 mm out beyond the fender lip.

Is that your jet in the avatar? :)

Booked in to get the bottom lip of the front bumper wrapped in matt black to match the lower grill. Have found a few pics online and like the look, otherwise I've always found the front not quiet right. The car is white and has black wheels, tinted windows, black interior,
so plenty of black and white going on. Will post a pic of before and after when its done.

Ordered a Garmin sat nav with Bluetooth hands free because I dont want to pull the guts out of the car, which I havent got yet, to be able to make and receive hopefully very few phone calls
