What car to spend £25k on ?

I am thinking of buying a fun or sleeper type oldish car that won't lose more than a few £k in price if I kept it for a few years, and doesn't cost a fortune to keep it sitting in the garage when I am not using it.

Seriously thinking a B7 RS4 with a TTS charger could be the right drivers car that will also look like a sleeper and not attract much attention when out driving from anyone, yet handles and has 600+ hp.....what else would work so you think ?

If you are thinking of that sort of car and can stretch your budget to £30k then nissan gtr makes a lot more sense. Unbelievably quick with a £500 remap and can’t see it depreciating much.

Thanks..A good suggestion I see your point, but had one and hoping for something a bit higher quality. The GTR is very boy racer, and will prob be truly abused at that price point so expensive on maintenance imo.

Yes, this is like more like it but,... £500+ road tax every year not so great as I think they came out in 2008 so missed the March 06 cut off for huge engines

I’ve done exactly the same, however that’s why I bought a low mileage Z4MC and a nice cheap to run car to go to work in. I understand that you now want a change but I don’t think there are currently many better cars with the potential of the Z4MC in your price range!

Z4m is nice, but I have decided that my Coupe will be the 35iS as it is more modern and also a roadster, just as fast and with low road tax( not sure why £500+ grinds on me, it just does :( , so try and avoid putting the extra few £hundred in Govt coffer's over it where possible, already been stung with the Luxury tax from cars reg'd 2017 onward cars for my daily). I am looking for another car to park next to it in the garage,...sleeper type of V fast and well regarded car. :o

I have always had an urge to own a 55 AMG. the SL 55 is probably the one I would go for.

Me too, not sure I could justify having the 35iS then however as "the" weekend roadster :o

I bought mine for pretty much all the reasons you list in your opening post, plus great practicality with a huge boot for a mid size saloon.
Would love to supercharge it! I wouldn't be able to daily drive it anymore though, it's already pretty thirsty.
It does absolutely everything, went camping this weekend and the weather was horrendous so i just folded the back seats down and slept in the car.

Regarding the road tax, all big power post March 2006 cars are £500 plus a year, its ridiculous but I'm pretty used to it by now, the Z4M was the same.

RS3 , TT RS great daily drivers and map to well over 400 bhp the Stronic version will crack sub 4 secs to 60mph to if you map them.

Just about stretch to an Aston. May not be the finest example for 25 k though.

Not sure "Aston" and "sleeper" go hand-in-hand :D

Not sure about the Aston. Nor do I want anything at the ropey end of the price for any particular model.

Maybe a E46M3 or M5/6 V10 could be another option. The Audi with its great reviews & quality/ size/power combo is proving tough to better so far in my head.

Please keep suggestions coming, I'm sure there must be something else that fits the bill.

Thanks

No one will expect you to push an Aston. I  have never seen one being driven hard. May be you could be the first? :D :driving:

Not seen one pushed hard, but had a v12 vantage pull up next to me on a slip road couple of years ago while I had the roof down. Kind gent did me the honours of putting his foot down. Oh the sound :D
