Thought this might be of interest to the E89 fraternity.

Erm, pictures on the last page for 1st and second are the right way round, just the name of the winner isn't

As good as the TT might be it still looks like an upturned bathtub

What I can't understand is why test a non m sport car against a TT that is obviously an S line, you can even see the little badges on the wings. Surely most buyers in the market with circa £13k + to spend and are considering a TT in S line spec would equally be seeking out Z4s in M Sport spec, even if it costs a bit more money.

Yes, but this is What Car ( :P ) - the result would hopefully have been different in something a bit less Mumsnet!

I mean would anybody thinking of buying either of these really care that one averaged 42.2 mpg and the other an appalling 41.5 mpg FFS!

I wouldn't read What Car for a car for "fun in the sun", in the same way that if I had to buy some sort of crossover/SUV stuff (which will thankfully never happen) I wouldn't be looking for road tests of those in EVO! :headbang:

The opening line of the review states:
The brevity and inconsistency of the British summer is probably one of the reasons we buy a surprisingly large number of convertibles.
What? Is the reviewer making a joke, because it doesn't come across that way. So, because you have short summers, with lots of rain, you buy a lot of convertibles?? :?
Actually, I've read plenty of times that England has one of the highest purchase rates of convertibles, so I just assumed you were all lying about your bad summers to make the rest of us feel better

I don't think that was a particularly balanced article. Also - numb steering in the Z4? Hasn't the TT got electric power steering which makes t even worse?? My Z4 chatters away like there's no tomorrow - something the Audis I've owned have never done.

My sunburn is telling me, summer was yesterday. 8) Happily I had a Roadster to enjoy it. :driving: :D

Well the article said that the Zed will be easier to find than the TT.
Sort of answers a question as to why the TT is not popular. I think looks outdated now.
Yes the Zed steering is a bit wooden and the gearbox a bit notchy, my only gripes.

True - Germany most, UK second. Frankly it's way too hot in the other large markets - Spain, Italy, France. Very few drive with tops down, aside the odd tourists..

Good point, although the S line cars have no engine performance mods they often have upgraded suspensions etc.
What these reviewers always forget is it does not matter, I bought my Zee because of its looks, road stance, driving position and of course the steel roof.

Sure TT is a good car but I would not guy one.... No mater how much better this individual thinks it might be.

Not Cabs or E89. If I had to let one of my cars go it would not be my TT. Its just a much better everyday car than my Z4, Z4 has more character and is still a lot of fun though.

Interesting review. As coincidence would have it we are off to France next week in my wife's (2014) 2.0iS and will be accompanied by our friends in their (slightly older, 2009) TT 2.0something something. I know which car I would prefer to be in for the trip. But I am slightly biased as I had 2 TTs in series 1 guise, from which I concluded that TT stood for Total Tedium. In the series 2 perhaps TT stands for Transiently Tedious?
