as above, i went to replace my roof tray micro switch, but although my switch works, its missing the metal clip etc so i abandoned my repair and ordered a whole new switch from BMW dealer.

while i was in the boot and carpets up etc i noticed that the wiring loom has a couple of unconnected wires/plugs.... is this for anything or are they just there for unused features i.e cd changer in boot or amp or the phone bluetooth thingy in centre console etc?

nope no cd changer (wouldnt use it even if i did lol) i did think thats what it would be for but wanted to make sure. thanks guys

how do i go about doing that MM ? i currently have a aux cable and an old iphone 4 i use (Bluetooth adapter should arrive tomorrow)

is there a way of being able to use the MFSW controls with the iphone/ipod?

You can use the intravee and Alpine unit combo with the CD player loom. Have a look on toysinyourcar.com

The kit can usually be bought cheaper than new, including all the wiring, on eBay. Sometimes on here. I think the going rate for the lot is about £160-180, though I've not checked recently.

what are the other features of the intravee? ive seen the name mentioned on here a few times but not looked too much into it.... but £160-£180 seems a lot just to be able to use MFSW or am i missing something lol?

Have you got nav ? Without nav it's not a great investment. If you have nav then it displays everything on the screen, and even without nav you can use the MFSW controls to navigate through your music... Easier seeing it though. From memory :

Control music through the MSFW - you can also play / control apps I believe, like Spotify
View trip history
View service history
View 'live' car stats like temp, RPM etc.
Control various functions if your key is not coded to do so, like locking doors above a certain speed
Various nav functions, like auto-zoom
Light control, like sidelights on as DRLs, one touch indicators for passing, leave the lights on for a period of time after stopping the car at night

...and a whole lot of other stuff I can't remember or is too geeky for me to be able to understand :D

There are plenty of threads in the audio section on what it does and how to install ; you should come across a link at some point to the 5-series forum where the chap who manages the software posts updates and instruction manuals.

It's an expensive toy, but I like being able to simply drop my phone into a cradle and access everything through the nav. And the other features are a bonus.

this sounds like the sort of toy i would want RE: all the programming and gauges etc to play around with... but sadly mine is only a 2.0i so no Nav screen :(

is there any other way of using MFSW controls or is this the only option?

I think some people have a Denison (or Dice ?), but I don't know anything about that - should be threads in the audio section though.
