Hi all-sorry to keep wittering on about this :oops: -if and when my emission light comes back on and i am told the bad news of my cat(fingers crossed it isnt)-what are my options?
BMW oem £900 ish
Breaker replacement(ive been told its illegal to buy these now,may have the same problem anyway)
Third party cat,which i cant seem to find one online
The stainless replacement systems i have looked at seem to be cat back systems
What would you do?-thanks and sorry again :roll:
 
Phone around your local motor factors/parts suppliers. See if they can do a CAT cheaper. Fair enough it won't be OEM, but they might have access to parts which dont show online :thumbsup:

Might be worth checking out other BMW models that use the same engine, you never know there might some similarity or at least something that could be made to work.
 
We had a Toyota Yaris that had the emission light problem ,lamba sensors changed ,problem still not cured .Toyota cat was about £900 as the car was 8 yrs old we went for an after market cat that came in around £200.It was ok for about 6 months then the light came back on,replaced the cat under warranty .This one lasted about the same.
We had the light reset and sold the car which in all other ways was running perfect.
We were told the after market cats are not made to the std of some manufactures .
In hindsight we shoulld have had the light reset and part ex the car.

That's an easy choice, trade it in against a 3.0 or 2.5 Si, go on you know you want to :D
