What am I doing wrong?

After some advice guys...

Car is currently advertised on here, plus pistonheads and a couple of other forums.

So far, since putting the car up for sale around 27th June... I have had a total of 0 enquiries... that's right... a bit fat zero.

Now I've dropped the price to under the £14k mark, which as far as I can see, puts it in line with others that are on PH, so I don't think I'm massively wrong there (Even put a further discount for people on here).

I know the market is slow for big engined sports cars at the moment, but I would have expected even some chancers making enquiries, but no, nothing at all!!

Advert is here http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=38219

Have I don't something massively wrong or can anyone suggest anything that might attract buyers?!

Cheers guys!!

I recently bought s-drive 23i, your M would have been prefect, unfortuately the insureance quoted for E85M is bonkers expensive, where as the 18mth old 23i was 30 quid more than my MINI. Maybe thats the issue here, not with your beautiful car.

Goood luck and hope it finds a deserving owner.

are any selling at the moment do you know?

I am looking for one hopefully soon, but need to sell my car soon.

I have a Defender and the guy i brough it from (trader) offered me £8k to by it back. The cheapest one on autotrader is 10.5k and its a van type one which is older and more miles. He said the market is very bad at the moment! Maybe not much is shifting at present.

Im sure alot of people are going for cheap tax green machines rather than 4x4s or 2 seater sports cars.

I could be in trouble...

i meant a 90 with no windows in the back for sheep etc, as apposed to mine which has windows and 4 seats to take 6 people to the pub in... :D

The used car market is absolutely shagged mate.

I spent £66 on advertising to shift my Z4 before it sold on here at a cost of nowt!

I'm just a bit surprised that I haven't even had any chancers or scammers trying to buy it from me to ship it Nigeria for a packet of wotsits and a snickers bar

Out of idle curiosity I got quotes on it, simply as I have just changed insurers on my cars so all the details are loaded.

To compare like for like my 3.0i would (if unmodified) cost around £195 fully comp. Yours would be £340 with the cheapest insurer, no hire car, legal aid, breakdown, protected NCD, etc. so not far off double by the time you go somewhere half reasonable. I assume given I'm old, live in a low postcode area, garage it, have decades on NCB, etc. most people would be double or more on these figures, but it's a relative guide.

My 3.0 sport Jag XF worth over £30k is only £245 all singing dancin' policy, so clearly the ///M is carrying a hefty premium. Add that to fuel, higher tax and service costs and the relative impracticality of sucha car and there's probabbly the reason.

Not to frighten yuo but the ABI standard value for the car is shown on insurance aplications as £10,175.

Not that it helps but I think the car is a great example and one I'd take a look at...I do however have a great aunt who left me the rights to a Nigerian oil well. Perhaps you could help me get the money out?

Maybe you should try saying - 'no offers please' instead of' NO OFFERS'. Bit off putting.
Think of it this way, if someone is thinking that even though you've said no offers they may be able to knock you down a couple of quid so will come and look at the car. Once you've got them there, you've got them hooked, fingers crossed and they will pay the asking price once they've seen the car.
Saying NO OFFERS you may lose people who would have come to look and end up being a buyer.

This is just my opinion based on my years of experience selling to the most awkward customers you'll ever come across!

GLWTS, hope you get some interest soon.

I have been looking at Z4m's for a while now, and my curcimstances have changed which is why im looking.

I did notice from when i was looking at the end of last summer that a trader still has the same car is still for sale. From the pics, it looks nice. 40k, black etc, but its not sold in nearly 1 year. It doesnt seem over priced either.

Maybe it didnt have the run in service or there is something fishy going on...

Thanks for all the comments so far, I know the market is fairly stagnant, but I was just a bit shocked to have had no enquiries at all.

Thanks Carol. Useful input there and much appreciated. I will reword the advert as suggested...very valid point!

Skillick - got your PM, just been busy

Have a look at Paza's advert - may be worth putting a bit more descriptive text about the car itself, how it drives, what is so great about it and so on, and also fleshing out the standard options list to it's full spec - 'etc etc' looks a bit low effort ?

TBH you may just need to wait for the right buyer on here - it seems to be the best place to sell, backing up Ricey's comment about his (frankly hilarious) efforts. Just don't copy his ad :D

Strange that you've had no enquiries. Craig3.0 has just bought an 08 plate 'MR' , lovely car with 20k miles and same colour as yours so they do sell and it's just a case of being patient.

Your car seems well priced and well specced, I'd suggest being prepared to wait until the right buyer comes along, if you reduce the price much further people start to get suspicious! GLWTS.
