Wet Passenger Floor

I have owned my 05 E85 for years. Some years I have noticed only a few times the passenger floorboard was soaked. I would notice the wetness because the windows would be fogged inside. It happens randomly whether in a garage or left out, sunny or rain. My AC ins't cold this summer so I took to a new mechanic - not BMW mechanic- to hopefully just charge the freon. My ABS and other lights also came on after the battery died over the winter. New mechanic said compressor is bad and ABS sensor needs replaced from the floor being wet. The floor wasn't wet when I dropped it off. I'm wondering if there was a leak from the AC when they were trying to diagnose it. The 2 repairs are over $3,000! The AC & ABS worked last summer, don't drive in the winter. I'm wondering if there is an issue with the AC that is causing the wet floor like a plugged drain that needs cleared and more freon added instead of replacing the compressor. ABS worked last year when put in storage. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think you may have more than one issue going on!

These cars often throw up random electrical glitches when the battery is dying.

My previous Coupe flashed up an amber EML that was for post-cat 02 sensors on both banks. My Indy gave it a dose of Cataclean and cleared the faults. All was good for a few months, then the amber EML came back so I booked in again and while my Indy was running the diagnostics the battery died. New battery fitted and all good.

The battery on my current car died in March and I fired it up with a jump-pack but then got the dreaded trifecta of warning lights for handbrake, DSC and ABS. I fitted a new battery and my Indy cleared a fault code for the steering angle sensor and lights went out.

Your A/C problem may be because seals have dried out as they do over time if the A/C isn't used regularly because the gas contains a lubricant - mine needed a recharge in June.

I doubt it the wet floor is related, that's probably a different problem.

My Z4 only ever goes to a BMW specialist because they know much more about them, but I hope you can get those niggles sorted.

I have had a wet passenger floor and tried absolutely everything going to track down the problem. Interesting thing is my car does not come out if its likely to rain and it gets polished rather than washed.
A few years ago I had my roof motor moved into the boot and the hydraulic reservoir was near enough empty. I rechecked the other day and the oil has almost gone again. I read that the hydraulic lines can rust and leak and it gets me thinking that perhaps this has run down behind the passenger seat under the carpet giving the appearance of water when it actually feels like very fine oil.

Take the door card off and check the integrity of the membrane.
