Well all because of my friends on here ....

Over the last 4 months after having very limited car repair skills I have :-

Completed an Inspection 2 Service, only pain was a drain plug that had been over tightened meaning that I am also an expert now in re-tapping threads to replace it. Still have a leak somewhere around the cylinder head cover but have the tools ready.

Changed all 4 brake pads and discs, lots of swearing to loosen nuts but did it although the hard bit was the disc retaining bolt that would not budge resulting in me now becoming an expert in removing these things.

Headlight was misting up but can now take off bumper and remove light to re-seal it (also requiring skills in not dropping things in the engine bay).

By Monday I hope to have taken off the back bumper and sorted the reversing sensor problem.

Mrs Mungus has threatened divorce many times, the dog has no idea who I am and I have a load of hidden receipts in a locked box in the garage away from the said Mrs Mungus.

Yeah well done for doing it yourself.

I know the bit about the locked box in the garage...... :?

Well done Hugh.
You should be on for a complete engine rebuild by June then ? :D

Sounds o so familiar. Especially the hiding receipts in the shed.... do you also tell little fibs about the actual cost of stuff????

Well done to the OP, amazing what can be done once you set your mind to it

Of course, if she knew I'd be sleeping in it !!

Good luck OP - especially with the hidden receipts!

I'd be interested to learn about the parking sensor issue and fix - I hope you can share with us!

Don't feel bad about the hidden receipts thing, I'm sure women do it all of the time, me, "new shoes??", her "what - these old things - nah"

Fibs ? Never ! The functionality you get from a gaptech is 'just something the car computer can make it do'. And an intravee really only costs £50 if you look hard enough :D

Seems to me we all in the same boat..

Mrs. Jak already thinks I spend too much time and money on the Zed........ if she knew the reality.........well I be f@@ked....

Good luck with the secrets everyone!

Luckily Mrs Tidy got her own address before I bought the Z4!

Finally sorted the rear parking sensors now all working ok,
Took bumper off easy really just take out screws underneath, then remove the 3 plastic clips in either where arch holding the trim (old fork was best for this), and then pulled each side away and put it on something soft to stop scratches.
I could hear the click when it was on but once I had removed it and pulled the 4 sensors out it was clear one wasn't making a noise. Replaced it with one off eBay and now working fine.

(Don't tell Mrs Mungus but I used one of her best forks, and her sun lounger cushion to put the bumper on to stop scratching....)
