To be fair I was a little keen to see how bad it would be myself, or how impressive! So the question is do I do the right thing and ring and cancel the appoitnment or do I just leave it and mess them about a bit maybe a little revenge for all the hours they have made others wait?

Why not indeed. I can hardly imagine they would offer you what they said they would and nothing like being able to walk away in a huff.
 
Oh I wouldnt go to the appointment as its the same day the other buyer wants to buy my car I meant just not show up! messes them around a bit as im sure they have done to 100'd of hard working people who have turned to them needing cash quick
