Wearable Technology - Opinions

I fancy moving from traditional sports watches that are great for timings, stopwatch, heart rate, etc., to wearable technology that can do a lot more.

I'd like to bridge the gap between what I can do with an iPhone in terms of maps, tracking routes, uploading to sites such as Nike Running, but the issues of carrying it and the limitations of a standalone watch.

Integration to iPhone/ipad is important to me. Add GPS, integration, heart rate and historic performance and I'd be happy.
Not planning on replacing normal work/social watches, not reading my emails on it....

Anyone with any experience of something interesting?
Do I wait for the iWatch (or whatever it'll be called)?

all this wearable stuff has always struck me as an answer waiting for a question, must be me getting old...

According to my investment adviser the "wearable technology" and the company creating the technology is the place to have your money...

Without doubt the next real big thing. As far as I can see it has yet to get the killer application. /all a bit disjointed, hence my question if is there anything out there yet?
