Water Ingress Passenger Footwell

Hey guys,

I am experiencing water ingress into my passenger footwell. I have recently had my loose passenger window's screw adjusted so through my research I have put it down to the door membrane. Does anyone have the part number for the Passenger Door Membrane? I checked on realOEM but all it has is the insulation.

I've found that parking the car on a really steep downhill slope causes water ingress. I have not experienced any previous water ingress in heavy rains and this is what I've put it down to.

Yep that is correct. You might be able to repair this without having to replace the membrane.

I had the same problem and I fixed it using some butyl tape and the original mebrane as it wasn't damaged, it was just loose at the bottom.

Where did you stick the tape? Any chance you could put up a photo of your fine work? I have this problem and get it when even washing the car, have just put up with it.
 
I've just discovered the exact same problem on my '07 Coupè whilst washing it this morning. Damp was there before i even turned the hose on (rain last night). Looks like it's coming in approx a quarter of the way back from the front of the passenger door, at the bottom.

Unfortunately I didn't take a photo when I did it. However I have managed to dig up some photographs from google.

The picture below shows how the membrane will look when the door card is removed. I have circled where the membrane not fixed to the door properly on my car. This gap allowed water that comes in from the window to pass out into the foot well area via the broken seal. If you use a flat object (screwdriver or knife) you will be able to test the seal and find out where the membrane is loose (if it isn’t obvious).

The next photograph shows where the butyl tape is located without the membrane. You can use this to work out where the butyl tape goes. However this will probably also be obvious as this stuff is seriously sticky and it will leave traces behind to let you know where it was!

When you have identified where the gap is apply some more butyl tape between the membrane and the door frame ensuring a new seal is created. This will hopefully resolve your problem!
 
Apologies for being obtuse :roll: , but can someone clarify something for me? Appears the door card pops off fairly easily by popping off the Airbag badge and (presumably) unscrewing something that anchors it there? Is it really as simple as that? What's the little cover behind the door release handle covering up??
