Water ingress into boot pocket through rear light cluster

Hi there, First time posting as I now have an ‘04 E85

Just had my Z4 for a month now and have just got around to sorting the leak in the boot (right rear pocket and battery compartment). After some tests I have found that when water runs off the roof and into where the boot tucks in, water goes straight down and drips down through the rear light cluster and out and over the brake light connector.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Could be a few things. On my E86 the light cluster was cracked on the white inner section ( probably not this)

Could be the plugs that the screws go down into from the plastic cover that sits above the light cluster

Or possibly the foam seal

(My bad your photo didn’t load until after I posted this. I would still remove the lamp cluster and check the foam seal and also for any cracks in the top of the unit. )

I shall get on and remove this, just need a big enough screwdriver! I want to see what’s happened. At least now I know where it’s coming in. Many thanks

So I removed the rear light cluster and the nuts were basically loose. So after removing all the bolts and tightening them up again. I think the issue has been solved!
