Water in the trunk - what should I check?

Hi,

It's autumn so it's raining most of the time now.
I left in my boot few clothes and today I noticed not only they are damp, but few sections are actually wet.
So probably something is leaking.

Now - before I investigate this myself ... are there any common faults you know about?

(It's a 2003 roadster :) )

When mine leaked it was in the boot corners behind both rear lights. I found the water was coming from rain running down the channels. Someone told me about Captain Tolleys sealant used on caravans so bought some off Amazon. its very low viscosity so tracks like water and then seals. first attempt cured both sides and still fixed and that was nearly 3 years ago. Used this since on my daughters car and fixed that as well so that would be what I would recommend in the first instance.

Rear boot vents more likely I reckon. New gaskets cost around £12 per side. Difficult to get to, but easy once you're there.
Rear light gaskets. Another easy fix. Similar price to vent gaskets.
On my E86 there was a gap below the quarter light window and water was getting in there.
I've read of others have problems with the rubber washers on the screws above and around the rear light units.
