Rear offside indicator started flashing fast so checked the rear clusters to find the usual condensation and water in lenses.
Took to my local main dealer to be told that car was out of warranty and the bmw cash cow on his desk (parts computer !) told him to replace both rear lights and leds at a cost of £714 ! after getting up of the floor haggled nicely with the sales guy and got the parts for free and fitting to £108 with a 2 year warranty on the lights.
Just thought i would let you guys know incase you have similar issues

Good grief you need to tell us who the dealer is lol, how did you get the parts for free? or was the salesman sniffing parafin.

Tim.

I have had my rear lights changed twice under warranty, last time about a year ago.
I haven't been driving the car much apart from weekends. Last couple of times i noticed that the battery seemed a bit flat.
Last fri it was completely flat. Got bmw extended warranty so called them out and it turns out that the battery and roof motor compartment in boot is full of water.
Car gets taken to dealer and it turns out that rear lights are letting in water! Wiring corroded, roof hydro possibly damaged and other bits and pieces. Total bill £2300[FACE SCREAMING IN FEAR][FACE SCREAMING IN FEAR][FACE SCREAMING IN FEAR].
Bmw extended warranty refuse claim. Dealer contacts bmw and they agree to pay for repairs because of the rear lights history.
So guys keep a watch in your boot!

So seems more people having this problem, and I had to argue the toss with the dealer to get them to do it. BMW AUC warranty apparently firstly turned round and said seals (on the rear lights) aren't covered, so the water ingress and damage wouldn't be covered. Bloody cheek of it, more arguing and they finally do it all FoC under warranty.

I suppose if the dealer has been replacing the lights then they must have fitted them incorrectly for water to get into boot, so they are to blame.
If the design is naff then BMW to blame.
Should be a win win situation for customer!

So why to AUC say seals aren't covered, not as though they wear?

Weather strips and seals are in the items not included on the AUC warranty. Piss take though that they try to say any further damage due to seals failing is also not covered.
