Water in boot

I am having the usual boot water ingress. Have taken off and resealed rear boot seal fitted new vents and still water getting in. I have noticed that there is a grommet in the boot floor with a red cable coming out of it going to the battery and today the inside of the grommet was soaking. My question is what does that red wire do as I want to disconnect it and replace the grommet. Any help would be appreciated.

We have a sloped drive and I used to get some ingress if I parked nose.
As long as I park facing down, my boot remains dry.
