water getting into the boot and battery housing

Hi All
I have taken my Z off the road for the winter. However I have noticed that the boot is soaking wet, particularly on the left hand side and the battery housing, anyone got any ideas. Many thanks

Hi many thanks, I have checked the brake light and it seems to be ok, if anyone has got any other ideas I would be very grateful.

Ever cleaned the drains?

Other usual points are the rubber seals around the boot, the third light as already mentioned and potentially also the normal rear lights.

Please forgive my ignorance but I didn't know that the Z had drains, may I ask as to where they are located please. Many thanks

Mine had a small leak from the seal above the top edge of the boot, removed cleaned and refixed with a black silicone, no more leak

My zed is like a bleedin sieve at the moment the way it lets in water!

This vid should help you with the roof drains and its also a good idea to check under the carpets in the cabin.
If you have ingress into the cabin it can be a few sources such as compromised door membranes or a blocked front scuttle.

There is also vent in the rear under the carpet near the lights that can also loose its seal and leak.

Mine was soaking in the same place as yours.
The battery compartment was flooded and the rear carpet soaked.
Couldn’t find any leaks for ages, then......
I started reversing the Zed on to my steep driveway. Problem solved!!
Turns out, on rainy nights water which should have gone through the drain holes found a simpler way into the boot coz it was at the same level as the drains!
Boot has been dry now for months!

They don't like the nose up position, mine had the swimming pool in the boot last summer because I parked the wrong way round. It rained in the night.

Sorted with a bead of silicone? Figure I might as well do it now and prevent any future issues? Or would it need a new vent?

+3 the nose up scenario already mentioned. Been there had the wet boot, turned the car around no more issues.

Thankfully mine is fairly level. Just need to check the drains again!

This is so weird! Mine was the exact opposite! When i parked nose down i got a damp boot, parking nose up it dried out and never got damp again!

Don't you just love their little oddities, Bless em :)

Hi All many thanks for all the tips and advice. The main source of the water ingress was indeed a leaky third break light, something I overlooked initially. A new light is on order and should be delivered any day soon. Once again thanks to everyone.
