Washing the car

It might seem like a numb question but----

I had a neck problem and a surgical procedure some years ago so washing the car is a bit of a problem for me. The top half is no problem but the lower half is a nightmare. I can manage the wheels if I sit on a little stool (just) but if I squat down, I cant get back up. :(

I have my old KEW pressure washer and was thinking of some type of snow foam wash. Is this method effective and safe? It has to be safer than the local Romanian car washers!

Any opinions would be appreciated .

How about one of those "sponge on a stick" devices?
Snow foam will help shift grit etc but there will still need to be some agitation to get the last bits off. Too much pressure can lift lacquer if a stone chip is present.

Its mainly the crud at sill level that I have a problem with so that might help.

An appropriate typo!
The Zed suspension can't help your neck, not if it's anything like the OEM setup in the ///M

What about a citrus pre-wash applied with a pump sprayer (garden type, £4 from Wilkos), left to dwell then power washed off? Perhaps snow foam as well to soften any remaining crud?

Then perhaps that pole thing above if used like a wash mitt would be...

thinking slightly outside of the box here but maybe http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOBILE-SCISSOR-LIFT-TILTING-CAR-LIFT-RAMP-Comes-with-FREE-axle-stands-/251429868383

not so much this one but you get the idea

I use a mitt (albeit lambs wool) and provided it is rinsed out regularly in a rinse bucket before being soaped up again, I would think it would be fine. I'm not a fan of brushes TBH, but am not a professional detailer so may be totally wrong here.

I think the problems going to be with the drying - not sure how you can do that unless you've got a distilled water reservoir (believe PVR has this) or a blower of some description?

Is that better/safer than a brush?

Do brushes cause more swirls or scratches than the mits?

Its probably not the bristles, but the grit between them, especially if put face down on the floor. If the crud is loosened before hand with pre-wash or snowfoam, then might not need too much pressure to be applied.

this.

more to life than worrying about every single last bit of dirt on a car....

the above citrus + snow foam is quick and easy to do, and will safely remove almost all the visible surface dirt and make the car look presentable.

Yeah - I tried out my citrus pre-wash yesterday for the first time, and it worked a treat! Sprayed on with the pump sprayer, left for 5 minutes, then snowfoamed over the top of it and left another 5 minutes, then pressure washed and it took the traffic film off as well. As rain was due I didnt bucket wash or dry, but it looked white again (instead of that light grey colour) and the dirt was gone (apart from the tar etc).

What about finding a local youth that would appreciate the money and paying them to do it for you, but per your washing instructions? I used to wash cars, cut grass etc as a lad and it was ace. That was back in the 80s though!

You get a clean car and get to put your feet up
