Washer additive, is this right?

Picking the Z4 up from the stealer, spoke to the mechanic and asked for some windscreen washer juice, he said they didn't have the propper type for my car. Apparently, I should be using a special solution which is kinder on the rag top....anyone ever heard of this or is it a case of "KACHING goes the cash register"?

Yep, as I thought, can see the thought behind it, something to do with less Alcohol (or another additive removed/reduced) but I'll stick with Fairy Liquid.

:tumbleweed:

Only kidding!

Funny how this works: my wife goes through a gallon every winter of the RainX wiper fluid. I go through a half pint...maybe.

Same here, said on may occasion, what's the point emptying the washer when it's the inside of the windscreen that's the problem?! No, she doesn't get to drive the Z4...

Thought maybe this had something to do with it!

Remember that Fairy liquid may act as a detergent for removing dirt, but Windscreen washer liquid also has a deicer in it so it doesn't freeze. I think it is important not to have frozen water in Scotland during the winter months. 3 points on license if caught with a frozen washer bottle!

Far worse than that - washing up liquid is bulked out with salt to make it thicker. Like spraying rust accelerator on the car everytime you clean the windows

I like the Prestone brand. All I'd say is I'd stay away from any that have colorant in them if you have a light colored top-I've never heard of them getting stained by the colors, but you never know.

You can pick up the Prestone brand at WalMart. It's more expensive than the blue stuff but WAY cheaper than the BMW stuff.

You can also go online and order washer fluid from 1Zett--I think they're the folks who make the BMW stuff anyway.
