Was 2012 the year of the big changes on the E89 rather than the LCI?

It’s a strange world when you have two E89s that you own and you drive them on alternate days….

I was just getting ready for MOTs, oil changes, filters etc and then noticed why my 2011 MY 35is seemed to have a heavier / stiffer bonnet than my 2012 MY 20i..I thought it was the weight of the engine.. :tumbleweed:

However it turns out the bonnet struts are the opposite way around on the body and the bonnet..

This got me Pondrew-ing about other changes..

So what happened in 2012 MY?

The CD button on the idrive controller was renamed Media

The flappy paddles were changed for down on the left and up on the right only

The cargo net was added to the luggage internal cover

The explosive bonnet was added in 2012

The extra valve was fitted to the roof pump

The N20 replaced the N52

The ZF8HP replaced the ZF6HP

What did the LCI bring?

New side indicators, some gloss black trim around a few cabin buttons and some new LEDs for the DRLs..

didn't they add a usb to the arm rest and did bluetooth become a standard feature? (I could be wrong :D )

I believe the strut relocation was allied to the 'explosive bonnet'.
My 64-plate has the later strut set up, but still has the ball joints for the earlier one.

Strange... I'm sure I read and I quote :D " The 2012 BMW Z4 comes standard with more features than before (although the base price has also increased), including Bluetooth, a USB port and floor mats."

Does the pedestrian become your passenger after the explosive bonnet fires them into the air then? :?

Nah it dumps them on the road in front of the car so you can then run them over again. It's known as 'taking the PISS' :D
