Warranty - to pay or not to pay? BMW or 3rd party?

Tom.
To me a fine example of what a scam warranties are, to fill BMW's & insurance companies pockets.
Replacing parts unnecessarily (because it's covered) drives me mad.

True, annoys me too. But even if diagnosed correctly straight away with no warranty I would have had to pay regardless. Just means less hassle the likely hood of me keeping it more than 2 years is slim.

Good feedback so far.
In other people experince what non BMW branded warranties have proven good value and what did they pay put on?

I had a warranty on a MGF with Warranty direct. Excellent service when it eventually went wrong ( it was an MGF lol) replaced starter motor no issues would use them again.

I had a warranty with Warrantywise ( smug Quentin Wilson) on my MGZT and the clutch blew up. They covered most of the cost eventually but not until we had a few words so Warranty direct would be the one for me!

I have a BMW warranty on the 'M' but bless her she never has needed repair in the 3+ years I've been paying for it so i can't say how good or bad they will be.

My BMW warranty has been hassle free and covered everything so far which has gone wrong. Its saved me in excess of £2500 and thats for a 2.0 2006 model with 50k miles and full BMW Service history, so you never know when things will go wrong!!

Warranty Direct were more expensive compared to the BMW warranty (£900 vs £360) and didnt cover the roof.

I will probably stick with the BMW Warranty with of course the other bonus that you take the car to BMW to have repairs done rather than a back alley garage.
